Royal Victoria Infirmary

The Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) is located next the Medical School within the Newcastle University campus and it plays a leading role in teaching, research and development in health care. The RVI acts as general hospital for a local population of around 300,000 and provides tertiary specialist services to a population of up to 3 million in the North East of England.

The Clinical Research Facility is situated on the 4th floor of the Leazes Wing at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI). This purpose built research facility is staffed by a team of experienced nurses and has fully equipped, private consultation rooms.

Eye Department

Outpatient ReceptionThe Eye department at the RVI is one of the largest in the UK and it provides a comprehensive specialist service to people living in Newcastle and the North East of England. Our unit has established itself as a centre of excellence in the treatment of eye diseases and we are actively involved in research, collaborating with a team of internationally recognised scientists based in the University of Newcastle.

The Eye department occupies a new building in the Claremont Wing of the RVI, with purpose-built facilities and fully equipped with the latest equipment. The outpatient department is located on the ground floor of the Claremont Wing, this map of the RVI site will help you locate us once you reach the hospital. When you first step inside, you will come to the main reception desk where a member of staff will direct you to where you need to go.

The outpatient department is divided into 5 main areas which are clearly signposted: Casualty, Green Clinic, Red Clinic, Blue Clinic and Children Clinic.
